Opti15: Mykita

Mykita teamet sørgede også for Cola til dem der havde tømmermænd og udlånte orange skærme. Tak.
I am far from finished with my eyewear tales from my trip with Poul Stig Eyewear to Munich. One of the more special (in all the best meaning) brands I visited were German Mykita from Berlin, which I am familiar with. Mykita has developed a hinge without screw and make glasses that are impossible to destroy. And in addition they colaborate with Damir Doma, Margiela, Bernhard Wilhelm and I could go on. I had really been looking forward to seeing their collection because I know that they always have something crazy (eg. Orange full face screens) and something I just instantly want to wear (giant smoky Damir Doma sunglasses). I was lucky to talk to Moritz, one of the founders of Mykita. He explain Mykitas vision as ‘an inovation of contemporary design’ which I think really makes sense when I see the products. They are wild, functional, different and practical. My faves were in the Damir Doma and Margiela collections, particularly Damir Domas smoky frames are crazy cool. It looks like a watercolor painting that flew to the 70s and met a glassblower… I can’t believe that it can actually work on a pair of sunglasses?
The Mykita team even provided Coca Cola if anyone happened to be hungover and they lent out orange face screens, if such were needed. Thanks!
